Maybe

The good stuff about awakening is often written by awakened people. But not all of it is. Sometimes, however, a person will lock onto the signal despite not being awakened. I think that’s what happened with Genavieve Linkowski’s song Maybe.

I feel like this song captures a longing that’s missing from reports about awakening written by awakened people.

Spend most my days to understand you
Why you would make me use my tears
And then you kneel right by my side
In my pain and wondering why

You rarely give me a straight answer
Instead you sit right next to me
And somehow that is just enough
I’m at peace within your love

Maybe the reason why I am down here
Is to know partly who I will have there
And give my life to someone I cannot see
Who’s never left and never will leave me

Is this the price of following you
Is this the cost – all of my life
It seemed like a good deal at first
But this deal does include some hurt

Take away this, take away that
That’s how it feels some days
It’s like my wants are attacked
But that’s what you have to do
To show that all I ever really had was you

Maybe the reason why I am down here
Is to know partly who I will have there
And give my life to someone I cannot see
Who’s never left and never will leave me

Oh my soul
Quiet yourself you need to know
He takes so you can see him clear
The pain is deep but he is near
He is here
So now hope
You can’t demand what’s his to know
Trust he is good look at the cross
He is my gain if all is lost
You’re worth the cost

Maybe the reason why I am down here
Is to know partly who I will have there
And give my life to someone I cannot see
Who’s never left and never will leave me

Maybe the reason this life is so hard
Is not to sit and figure out why God
Would let all this happen and then be okay
I’m your child God, I’ll trust and obey

I’m your child God, I’ll trust and obey
